This environment invites them to learn, awakens curiosity, and helps them make sense of the world. We provide ample opportunity for hands on learning and "fingering over" of their surroundings.
Guided discovery, problem-solving, practice, and skill-mastery are an important part of our carefully-designed, age-appropriate curriculum. Independent learning is encouraged.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces allow for movement and large motor activities. Daily outdoor play is part of our program. Quiet play also gives children some down time in the course of a long day and encourages socialization.
Both security and safety come in the form of a structured program built upon daily routines. Children feel comfortable and competent. Attachments between staff and students develop, friendships form, opportunities for caring arise, and kindnesses are shared.
One of the most valuable gifts that a child can receive is the sure knowledge that they are significant and that the important people in their lives respect them and delight in who they are. Children receive that gift at Grosse Pointe Nursery School.
We value our student's families. Family members are welcomed in the classroom. We are commiteed to supplementing, assisting, and supporting the family's child rearing. Every effort is made to be flexible in responding to individual needs for care and learning.
